Fostered in
Wisconsin
Leo's
Blog
Hi, I'm Leopold. I am a neutered 3 year old blue male.
My friends call me "Leo" for short. My story is a sad one...I'm
hoping you can give it a happy ending.
I was found as a stray by Animal Control after having
an accident. The vets think I was hit by a car. I was one day away
from being euthanized by the animal control, when the great folks at
Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue came to save me. Actually, lots of
great people came together to help me out. The B.A.R.C. of Chicago
helped with my transport and even paid for my vet care in a fabulous
clinic in Chicago. Even with all these great people helping me, I
still had severe damage done to my back left leg and it was
amputated.
I'm now recovering with my foster parents in
Wisconsin. I'm on some antibiotics and pain medications and
recovering fabulously. I can get around just fine and manage good
with my three legs. I am such a sweet boy and love everyone. I
really enjoy being in my foster parents company and like to follow
them around the house. I get along with the other dogs here and
can't wait to go outside to play with them. I watch them play from
the patio door and wag my tail. I am learning to be crated, but
really prefer free-roaming. When I heal a little more, my foster
parents say I can stay out all the time. I know how to sit, lay
down, stay, and even shake. I walk great on a leash also. Oh and I
am super handsome!
I am such a great dog and will make a great pet for
someone. My foster dad is a cynic and thinks that no one will adopt
me. My foster mom and I think that people have great big hearts and
will look past my handicap. Help us prove my foster dad wrong!
Keep checking my blog for progress on me and updates!
Loves and kisses,
Leopold

Misty

Misty's Blog

If you are looking for a running partner, agility dog,
or hiking companion, Misty is your dog! Misty is a very active,
higher energy one-year-old.
She will need a home who can devote activity and
training to a Weim teenager who just needs to learn the ropes of
being a well-mannered house dog. She is good with other playful
dogs and older children.

Morgan's
Blog
Hi everyone, I'm Morgan!! I can't wait to tell you all
about me. I'm gorgeous and only 2 years old. Silver is
my color and I have a longer tail than most Weims. My
previous owner could no longer keep me so now I am in
foster care with Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue. I am
living in Oshkosh, WI with my foster parents and other
Weimaraners. Like any lady, I am up-to-date on all my
vaccinations and am spayed.
Some of my favorite things in life are playing, sleeping, eating,
and cuddling. I love, love, love, love chewing on bones. I always
share my toys though and am learning my place in the pack. Running
in the yard and playing with my foster brothers and sisters is so
much fun. I am still young and energetic, so lots of playing for
me. Food is so yummy and will steal your food if you turn your
back, so watch out! At night, I like to sleep in bed with you
because I just need to be around someone at all times. I love to
follow my foster mom around the house and in the mornings we cuddle
during the news. She is my favorite person in the house and can't
stand not being by her side. My name should have been Shadow!
I
listen very well and know how to sit, stay, come, lay down, and
down. I'm still trying to perfect the down command. I just get so
excited when people come over that I want to jump on you. It'll
probably take a couple months to really learn that command. I walk
on a leash with a halter, otherwise I tend to pull. These are my
downfalls, but, hey, not every dog is perfect. I think I'm close
though!
During the day, I hang out in my crate and that keeps me out
of trouble. I haven't chewed or had any accidents in my foster home
though. My foster parents leave me out when they're gone for
shorter periods of times. I don't have any experience with cats and
I'd probably do better with older children until I can learn to be
gentle and not jump. I've never been an only dog and I might get
lonely in an only-dog home. If you really want me, you could just
adopt 2 dogs from GLWR!
Don't forget to check out my blog for more
pictures of me and updates!
With love and kisses,
Morgan

Satin

Satin's
Blog
Hi I'm Satin, and my
foster parents say's I'm just about the sweetest girl they’ve ever
met. I loooove to get petted, I just love it. I also looooove
treats - people and doggie, I won't discriminate.
I got to my new foster
home a few months ago, I was in a different foster home in Michigan,
but didn't have the chance to get all the exercise I needed to take
off the baby-weight I put on back when I had puppies (before I came
to GLWR). Since I've been here in Wisconsin I've been losing some
weight, we've been busy. I am a regular member of the local dog park
now, I love running around there, no leashes, oh it's so fun!
I also love when my
foster parents take me on squirrel hunts. They call them walks or
jogs, but I know the plan, and I keep my eyes pealed and myself
ready to pounce if one of those silly little vermin show up. You
know what reminds me of squirrels? Cats, birds, very small dogs,
rats, hamsters, well...pretty much anything smaller than a handbag,
and I want to chase them all. I don't know what I'd do if I caught
one, but my foster parents say they would hate to find out, so I
can't go to a forever home that has cats or other small animals.
Oh, and I have a foster
brother. He is great, he makes me feel more comfortable and helps
calm my anxiety I get when my foster family is away from the house.
I just don't think I could be in a family without other dogs, I
really need my forever home to have at least one other dog.
So, well, I really like
my foster home, but I really really want to find my forever home. I
have so much to give, I will be a wonderful and easy going addition
to my new family, if I could only just find them.

Winifred

Winifred's Blog
**Adoption Pending!!
Hi I’m Winifred, but you can call me Winnie. I am a
beautiful 4 year old female Weimaraner. A great lady took me in
after my previous owner didn’t want me anymore. She contacted Great
Lakes Weimaraner Rescue and that’s how I came into rescue. I’m so
excited to have a warm place to sleep now and plenty to eat. I am
currently be fostered in Oshkosh, WI with 3 other Weimaraners. I get
along great with my foster brothers and sister. I think I would
love to be an only dog though because I really don’t like to share
the attention. I just want you to love me and pet me, just
me. Don’t get me wrong, I’d adjust to having to share the spotlight
if the right home came around.
I just love riding in the car and think the groomer’s
shop is the best. I listen very well to my foster mom and sit, stay,
crate, and walk well on a leash. I don’t really care for tennis
balls or stuffed animals. I do like to chew on an occasional
bone. I take treats like a perfect lady, despite my urge for food.
I’m slowly learning that food comes twice a day, no matter what. My
foster mom feeds me in a special bowl that forces me to eat
slowly. I also love my crate and even sleep in there at night with
the door open. One of my foster brothers likes to sleep in there too
and I don’t mind sharing.
I really hope the right family comes along to adopt
me. I have so much love to give! My foster mom says that I’m so
adorable that I shouldn’t have a problem finding a new home. I can’t
wait…
Kisses, kisses, kisses,
Winnie
