Marley

I just wanted to clear one thing up.   

I am nothing like that crazy Golden Labrador in that movie Marley and Me!  

I am a very handsome 3 year old boy and I am sooooo well-behaved.  My foster mom says that I am the “perfect gentleman”.  I eat my dinner slowly and accept my treats very gently and sit for them patiently.  

I have been getting along very well with my foster sisters, but my foster Mom thinks that I would do just as well flying solo.   

I crate well, but am allowed to free-roam when left alone.  I begrudgingly sleep in my dog bed on the floor right beside my foster dad.  Every single night, I start up on the bed and am not the least bit happy to be relegated to the floor – Something about house rules!!   My latest trick is to attack the big metal garbage can in the kitchen.  It’s so much fun to tip it over and see what treats dump out.   

I love riding in the car as it usually means that we’re all heading to the beach.  Once we get there, I run and run and play with all of my 4 legged-friends who hang out at the shore. I haven’t met one new friend I haven’t liked.  I’m so friendly, the rescue is thinking of nominating me as Mister Congeniality for this year’s Barkademy Awards.   

I currently live in Toronto, so I guess you could call me a city slicker, but I would be thrilled to live in a small town where everyone knows your name.

Hi There!

My name is Paddy O’Furniture, but you can call me Patrick for short.

Pull up a chair and I’ll spin you a yarn but before we get started,

I hope you don’t mind if I pour myself a wee dram of toilet water…

There once was a wee lad named Paddy

His story wasn’t long but quite saddy

He grew up in a town in the US of A

And now finishes his sentences with “eh”

He lives in home with two weim sisters who stink

Please do tell me now - what’s a poor boy to think?

They say my new family is awaiting

In the mean time I spend my spare time painting

A new place for St. Patty’s Day would be nice

With a nice mother who’ll feed me lamb and rice

I promise I’ll sit pretty if you get me out of this city

Which will be the only way to end this ditty.

An Update on Patrick in Toronto:

Patrick is fitting right in with his foster family which includes two other Weimaraners.  He is a big boy, but acts like a little baby.  He is fine to free roam and sleeps on his bed on the floor in the master bedroom at night.

Very well trained and behaved, Patrick walks well on a leash.Patrick spends an hour every day in a leash-free park and gets along very well with dogs of all sizes.Like most Weims, he loves the car and travels very well, although he would rather be in the front seat driving.

His current foster mom and dad absolutely adore Patrick. If they didn’t already have Willow and Lakota, they would be keeping him in a heartbeat.  Whoever successfully adopts Patrick - this gentle giant -will be a very lucky family indeed.
